Our new building will provide much needed space for teachers, children, parents, staff and external specialists, such as speech and occupational therapists.

The Case for a Community Center:

At Follow the Child Montessori School, the need for a new Community Center has become increasingly clear. This addition to our campus was inspired by three growing priorities:

1. After School Care

In the years following the pandemic, demand for After School programming surged. Families seeking full-day support began turning down enrollment offers simply because we could not guarantee care beyond the school day. This not only impacts individual families, it affects our ability to meet enrollment goals and maintain our long-standing reputation for excellence.

2. Student Support Services

More than 25% of our students receive some form of academic or social-emotional support each week. Whether it's one-on-one reading instruction, mindfulness groups, or occupational or speech therapy, our need for space has far outpaced what our current campus can provide. Specialists often work in shared spaces like the art room or Multi-Purpose Room, and sometimes even in hallways. They frequently have to relocate throughout the day, creating disruptions and limiting the quality of support we can offer.

3. Meeting & Gathering Space

We lack a dedicated space for adults to gather. Parent meetings, Family Association gatherings, and staff breaks all compete for the same few areas—many of which are often in use or unavailable. Staff often take breaks in their cars due to the overcrowded workroom. A central, reliable space would support both community connection and staff wellbeing.
